Browsing Posts in Domains

elephant One Bite at a TimeElliot, of Elliot’s Blog, wrote a nice post today about how to get in to the domaining industry.  His point simply put was to set reasonable goals and work to the completion of those small goals.  It was a very good point and one I believe can be applied much further out that just domaining.  I had a boss that used to say the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.  I am sure he did not coin the phrase, but I have certainly never forgotten it.

I am sure I am not alone in my eagerness, lack of patience, determination, entrepreneurial spirit and drive.  It helps to be reminded that races take time and are not won with the first step.  Stay the course.  Remember, just the fact that you are running puts you way ahead of most.

GoDaddy has release a teaser photo of their new GoDaddy girl for the .CO domain registry.  Can’t say we recognize her, but can say it is fun trying.

GoDaddy CO Girl Recognize These Legs?

Any ideas?

By the way, thank you to Elliot for pointing this one out.  I’m an avid reader Elliot and appreciate the heads up.

I follow domain blogs on a daily basis.  Most of these I read several times throughout the day.  I think domaining is underappreciated and is an afterthought in most people’s minds.  At one time I ran a domain blog, but never quite found my voice.  I am not about to start that up again, because the people below have got it covered.  That being said, I have my opinions on domains, domaining, and its place in the online market and I will leave my comments here on the Kansas City SEO blog as I have comments to make.

Without further ado.  Here are the good domain blogs to follow.

elliotsblog Domain BlogsElliot’s Blog is one of my absolute favorites.  I enjoy several aspects of the blog, but I think one of my favorites is that he is a developer as well as a domainer.  I am of the mind that development is a fantastic way to build a revenue stream and increase the value of the domain overall.  Elliot also does a nice job allowing comments and engaging with those people who leave them.  Elliot posts multiple times a day, so be sure to check in often.

sevenmile Domain BlogsSeven Mile is a blog maintained by Frank Schilling.  Frank does not post as frequently as he has in the past, but we he does you want to take the time to read and digest the content.  He is very insightful and has been very successful in the domain space.

ricksblog Domain BlogsRick Schwartz maintains a blog and provides multiple updates daily.  Rick’s style is very direct (as you can see on the left), but the message is clear and on-target.  Rick has been in the domain game for years and has a great deal of wisdom to impart as a result.  Be sure to check in.  You will walk away with more knowledge for having done so.

dnj newmast pin5 Domain BlogsThe Domain Name Journal is written by Ron Jackson.  Ron is a men among boys when it comes to writing.  He is an actual journalist and he comes across as such when you read his posts.  Ron does a thorough job covering the industry.  He is at almost all major domain conferences.  He profiles the biggest names in the space and offers his readers a glimpse into what makes these successful individuals tick.

domainnamewire 300x46 Domain BlogsDomain Name Wire is written by Andrew Allemann a good blog to follow.  Andrew posts multiple times a day and does a nice job covering news in the industry.  He is often early to break news and provides his perspective as well.

So there you have it.  There is a lot of money to be made in domaining.  There is a lot of money to be made in development.  This is simply another piece in the online puzzle and that’s why I wanted to share it here.  Hope you enjoy.
